Dealing with difficult doctors

Urgh. Yeah, I had that for my sleep studies...I had a LOT of evidence that it wasn't going to be sleep apnea, which I presented to him, but he still just tested for sleep apnoea, because I'm overweig…

Dreaming of the Future

In three years time I will have finished my two years' of sponsored study at Zhejiang Normal University and, with luck, scored myself some kind of study or translation opportunity in Beijing. I'll be…

What are your days like?

So variable it's hard to say. These days? Completely non-functional. Washing up a bowl, having a shower, accompanying Dan to the shops--these sorts of things are major accomplishments. Uni's finishe…

Terrified of new diagnoses.

Extreme-bulk-reply-incoming! -- Maureen: Thank you so much. Your comment helped me get to sleep that night. Luvd: Would you mind if I asked you some questions about your ex sometime? I've not met…

Hi Sarah. Having a doctor tell you that you have a mental illness let alone two is terrifying. I agree with the others to stop drinking. A lot of people with bipolar disorder drink and abuse drugs to self medicate. I was diagnosed a little over two…

I actually managed to fix it a week later, but that doesn't negate the pain it caused me at the time. =P It's why I stick to fairly simple patterns--kind of like watching TV shows you've seen before, you can enjoy the act of knitting without the pai…

I'm really glad it worked for you. =) It's probably what's most useful for me. I'm rereading all of Terry Pratchett's books, which I have probably read at least a hundred times each before (no exaggeration). I fall asleep every night to Futurama or…

I don't love being ill, but I sure do love my Wall-E pharmacy and my pill-box covered in cute Taiwanese stickers.

Sometimes one day at a time isn't small enough. For the focus, take things ten minutes at a time. Divide things up into tiny, tiny tasks. I have to-do lists that go question by question on my Chinese homework. Ticking them off and taking a five minu…

Last night I had one of the biggest breakdowns of the year over my knitting, so I'm disinclined to trust it at the moment. =P All my stitches got twisted and I couldn't fix them no matter what I did, so of COURSE it was the end of the world. Normall…

Hmm. I think we need separate Anxiety and Dog Training forums. =P Jen: What's an aromatherapy roll-on? I like the sound of it!

I would like to wake up this forum again a little. =) What's one thing you find helps when you're anxious? If I'm at home, I find half an hour in bed with a familiar book is good. I force myself to focus on the pages and soon I'm so absorbed in the…

Thanks. I love birds.

Your goals sound wonderful. I hope things go well for you on your career path!

I want to do wildlife disease research, maybe related to migratory birds. I don't want to be bound to a clinic as a vet, I want a little outdoor experience in the mix. Wildlife rehab ranks up there in my interest though.

What are you going to be doing in China? I'm a big fan of asian culture too. I've been a martial artist since I was seven. Mostly Japaneses and Korean arts though. I do some Chinese style weaponry though.

I have a tattoo of a feather on my left ankle. Never thought about getting one of a duck! Mandrians are cool. I took care of 4 of them. Jordy was my favorite, he used to take a bath in the pool even if it was 0 degrees outside. Never did figure out how he didn't free his tail feathers off! :)

Hi! I'm a fellow birder too. What's your favorite type of bird? I'm a big fan of long-legged wading birds. I used to be zookeeper and loved taking care of storks, flamingos and egrets. Well, most of the time. They do tend to reak a bit...all that fish and brine shrimp. :-P

It's so refreshing to talk to people who "get it" isn't it? You don't have to explain or edit your words. :D I'm so glad we have this forum and each other!

xoxo,

p.s. The duck is wicked cute, by the way! :D

A misbehaving brain...a misbehaving body...neither is fun, but I think we tend to press on and deal with what we are dealt and press on to accomplish our dreams because it is that or give up and for some of us, giving up isn't an option.

You're right, a duck can cheer a day up - especially a baby duck! Here are some ducks to brighten your day...

Thanks! It is so great for me because I'm aiming high - not many people in constant intense pain would attempt to undergo nursing school. In fact, my parents have repeatedly told me I can't do it, but I refuse to listen. It is also amazing because I love astronomy (as well as all of the sciences).

I love your little ducky, he is adorable!
