I hear you on the not wanting to write about someone in chronic pain - that would be boring in itself!
Some of the best writers are the best because they read widely. I do believe that many writers from the 17 and 1800's wrote from places of litera…
Hey babes, just checking in. It's been awhile and I've been feeling a little better! Not better like I don't have my ten year long migraine anymore (ha!) but better despite its continued tenure. I've been having good luck avoiding my doctors and ign…
Emily: That's good advice in theory but I see my specialist about once a month, and some of the things she has put me on have made me so ill that I would have been dead if I waited that long. I have such extreme reactions that I really have to liste…
Laurie: I live in BC. But it really depends on the doctor, not the province, I think. I have walked into a doctor's office and had them tell me something was impossible, or that it just wasn't done, or to go back to my old doctor... I just went on t…
Laurie: I am in Canada with similar headaches and I have had an MRI, MRA and several CAT scans. I switch doctors often and I am very pushy about what I want. If your doctor will not order a test, try another. I go to different walk-in clinics if I h…
Oh, one more thing: I did start feeling a tiny bit better almost immediately after I stopped taking the magnesium, but it took about a week for it to clear my system enough for the effect to really be noticeable if I wasn't looking for it.
Elizabeth: Interesting that you have been taking the magnesium the longest. Have you ever noticed any benefit from it? Has your pain decreased or increased over the years? (at least migraine-wise)
I hope stopping the magnesium helps your pain a lit…

I can totally see the appeals of each side of the border. That's part of what drew me and my husband up here. I miss certain aspects of the States, but really I like being in a more progressive country that has different values than the States. It's like a breath of fresh air. :) We're here on a temporary work permit and haven't decided yet whether we'll stay past it, but there's time to decide.
I have some friends in New West. We're in South Burnaby right now, but moving on Dec. 1 to the Trout Lake area. We are excited to be in a more central location for both of our jobs and friends. It will be nice. I'm tired of a 45 minute commute to downtown everyday. Although I get a lot of reading done on the Skytrain.
We should definitely do coffee on the Drive sometime. I'll be more available in about two weeks. Have to make it through this move and we're also going down to the States for American Thanksgiving. Pack, leave town for five days, come home and move...good timing us! But I look forward to connecting :)
Hey, nice to meet a fellow Vancouverite indeed! What are your American roots, if you don't mind my asking? I have American roots as well. I'm from Seattle most recently, and New Mexico originally. I'm an avid tea drinker as well. You ever take your pups to Trout Lake for swimming? If so we could meet up, my pup enjoys a little dip there on a fairly regular basis! Nice to online-meet you :)
We sure do have alot in common. :o)
Kelowna, BC, books (self help, self esteem, Mary Higgins Clark books) , dogs, tattoos and my boyfriend.
We have three dogs, I have 4 tattoos and 1 boyfriend. LOL
I know exactly what you're talking about. My hubby tends to reward Domino's bad behavior. After watching Dog Whisperer I'm more aware of how she's feeling during our walks. She's usually under stress (not enjoying herself or relaxed because there are dozens of unsocial dogs in our neighborhood), and she pulls ahead of us.
I've also become more aware of my behavior during our walks, so I've made a lot of changes. When I'm holding her leash, I make sure Domino stays at my side. And when she tries to take off in front, I give a quick little tug at her leash. She needs that constant reminder of who's the pack leader. Getting the hubby to adopt these same habits (and not laugh when she goes into bark/yelp mode) is going to be tough, but I won't give up :)
10 miles a day?! That's awesome! I really need to start taking my dog for more walks, instead of just waiting until the hubby wants to. Because we didn't socialize her enough she can be a handful (a lesson I've learned and will never repeat again).
I think it's great you adopted a rescue dog. If everyone did that we could end the need for puppy mills forever!
Sorry to hear you lost your dog. In June we had to make the very tough decision to put our baby boy Rusty to sleep. He was four months away from turning 16, and I hear for a large pit bull that's a long time. I married my high school sweetheart and we've had Rusty and Domino since they were puppies, so we were devastated.
Domino is still going strong, and has made the transition easier. She took it pretty well surprisingly. I think it's because she could tell he was deteriorating. She even knew not to play as rough with him as she once did.
