What are your days like?

This is a good idea to find out the differences in our chronic illnesses and how they affect our day to day lives. I would say that I appear very normal, except that I do walk with a cane. I am very…

Thank you so much! I had tried all of those, and exhausted all my options, so I thought. Today, I was watching the 12pm news and they said my county (DeKalb Co. GA) got a shipment of the injectable H…

Well, he is my second opinion actually. The first ortho I went to told me I needed a total shoulder replacement. He saw me the day before Halloween, they squeezed me in his schedule. I just feel like b/c he didn't show me the x-ray, and pushed me of…

Hey! Thank you for the good, healing energy. I was able to clear my mind and get some needed perspective - and get some deep breaths. I was also able to get a good night's sleep. I'm sore still, but my stomach is much calmer. I'm interested in hear you impressions. Thanks again Babe!

I've been seeing someone at POC and so far I've really had a great experience over there! And i'm with you, i really like the idea of them specializing in that specific area of the body.

Dana, you will never have more gratification in the rest of your life re: list-making as you are experiencing w/ your adoption - so Go For It!! make lists just to check them off ;) (i did lol)
i bet you are so super busy. no worries catching up w/ me - i've been there and I GET IT!! just remember if you do need to vent, I'm here - sometimes you just can't talk to family/friends about certain adoption-related stuff, and it's nice to have a sounding board. Take

Hooray!!!! Congrats on finished HS.,.huge step! :)
now breathe and celebrate this step
I learned through my own adoption experience that it is very important to celebrate every step! Too often we - in the adoption process - celebrate for a minute and then start obsessing over the next steps. So that is my unsolicited advice :) Celebrate, girl! ;)

geez - you are a fast typer LOL
we'll I'm psyched for you then if you are feeling that positive. And congrats on the private domestic route. I take it this will be your first baby?? How exciting!! ;) If the sw gives you a difficult time, take a deep breath and 'kill her with kindness'. You know, the irony is that to gain the approval/acceptance to be a parent via adoption, one must go through intense scrutiny - both internal and external - and so much thought and education goes into the process that i wonder wouldn't it be beneficial to make ALL prospective parents go through this?? I mean really -
but that's for a different post :)
And remind the SW of that point - re: this is well thought out and researched and you are prepared!! So much more so than a parent via pregnancy who didn't have the invasion of HS, sw's, and reference checks! And as we know, sh*t happens - and if you ask me, we chronic babes are more prepared for it when it does right??
We did international in 2005, and we did have to provide A LOT of supplemental documentation and were very lucky to have found a wonderful agency who was willing to - as you said - see the person not the disease. Times have changed A LOT in international adoption, and I know fellow chronic illness moms who are marching ahead - just have to find the right agency to facilitate. And trust your instincts. Ironically, we were afraid of domestic adoption and didn't really consider it b/c of the reason you gave for international! It's all in the timing. Can't wait to hear about your visit and you wll feel like a ton of weight has been lifted from your shoulders! Then you can (if you want to - sorry I'm being nosy!!) fill me in on next steps, etc. We just welcomed our niece home from Ethiopia in August and I helped my s-i-l through process and i guess I'm still not 'over it' LOL
