ChronicBabe Forum

An online resource for young women with chronic illness

I thought I'd start this thread to let you know that when I can get in here, I do and will be an ear to anyone who needs it! Please add to this thread whenever you just need to share.

I thought I'd share quickly. I have been having neck pain all weekend and can't pin point when it started which makes me think it was coming on gradually. I've only felt good for a month and was trying to fit in too much. My stomach is bothering me, too, more signs of taking on too much too fast. I cancelled all my appts. for this week and next! I've got to put myself first and not "run with the world," and I am thankful I can do that. My children are so supportive and helpful, too. I was just so tired of depending on them I was trying to "win them back" so to speak. Well, I promised this would be short but don't ever feel you have to put in a short entry! I just need to take care of myself better.......and as naturally as possible. Thanks for creating and joining this group! Joni in DE

Hi Gals, Just wanted to check in to see how everyone is doing. Joni....is the nasty bug finally gone from your house? My experiment of increasing my Cortef has me feeling much better. I just need to watch the scale...I can gain easily with steroids pretty quick. I felt well enough to go out to dinner with my Guys last night. I can't remember when we did that last! I ate beer battered fish and it was a little too heavy and rich for my tummy, I was nauseaus all night. But, I woke up fine this morning! Beautiful Indian Summer Day here in Chicago, Hubby took the day off and has been working in the yard all day, we have way too many leaves. Happiness to all of you
xoxoMaureen

Yay, Maureen! I've been praying you'd find something to help from what you already know. That is great. I decided to take my adrenal glandulars even through my sickness and I think it really helped me to cope. My oldest has the flu, now, she should be the last one....there is one more, my 11 yo who didn't get it very strongly, but I'm praying she dealt with it already!

It is beautiful, here, too, in the east. My animals were very frisky today. We even got pictures of the new kitty with the old kitty, very cute. I'll put it here.

Happiness and hugs to you, too, how is everyone else?

Maureen and family-I love thinking of you out with your guys in the windy city! Love, Joni

How is everyone? My last of six has the flu, terrible four day fever and deep cough. She needs to get better because she is having a surgery next week to get a cyst on the back of her leg removed that was terribly infected. She is 11 yo. I'm prone to cysts, too.

I think test results can be reassuring because ever since I got my hormone panel back and saw it was doing me good (except for the testosterone and DHEA didn't budge), well, at least I feel like I'm not poisoning myself! I start the DHEA capsules soon so that will be another time of trepidation. I was super happy to see that two of the dessicated adrenals (bovine) a day seems to bring up my am cortisol, a least. I won't have the four panel done until March which is fine with me.

I'm not going ahead with heavy metal detox but am just going to maintain through the winter and do some light cleanses, some homeopathic, some Traditional Chinese medicine. I also really want to exercise more, even just a little riding of a stationary bike.

I have a hard time going absolutely no sugar. I feel deprived and its all entangled emotionally, I think. I'm trying harder than I was, though, because evening heartburn or heartburn that wakes me up at night is awful and I know its from sugar. If I eat something "live" like a carrot or orange before bed I do so much better.

Have a good week and hope to see some of you! Joni in DE

Hi everyone! How are you all doing? I've been doing really poorly the past 2 weeks- I tend to "disappear" when things are super bad but I'm going to try not to isolate. I had a stessful event about 2 weeks ago that sent me into an adrenal crash. I just seem to be getting worse since then so I am trying to find some doctors near me to help. I am wondering if my adrenal isufficiency is secondary to something else or if something else is preventing my treatment from being effective. I have read that chronic fatigue syndrome/ fibromyalgia (which I have, whatever those are because no one really seems to know!) may be caused by a virus (or mycoplasma infection) so I'm thinking of seeing an infectious disease/ CFS specialist and getting tested. I'm also trying to find a doctor to perform some surgery to remove a medical device that I don't need anymore that I think is irritating my body, causing pain, and likely inhibiting my adrenal recovery. I also saw a neurologist today and he said there were some abnormalities, like a lot of weakness on my right side (which should be stronger since it is my dominant side). Due to that, terrible cognitive functioning, poor memory, back and neck pain, and a headache for 6 weeks he wants me to have a brain and cervical spine MRI. I know the adrenals can cause al lot of these symptoms, but I think it is time for me to dig deeper just to make sure because my treatment so far has made minimal to no difference and it has been quite a while. I feel like a warrior right now! Everything feels so difficult!

Oh Carrie, I'm so glad you wrote and let us know. I'm also so glad you're fighting this and looking for answers, there has to be some! How frustrating and frightening for you. I am praying, now, that you find wisdom and strength during this time. I am around if you want to share anything or my email (for anyone) is johngooss@yahoo.com.

I can't imagine headache for six weeks although I did have a three week run with a virus in August that included three migraines in it. I never get that "aura" but it seemed that even turning my head a certain way would trigger it. We had a speaker come to our church who had terrible fibromyalgia so much that his neck was involved and he had to wear a cervical collar to prevent headaches. He is better now. His story is miraculous, its on this page: http://www.meetingwithmiracles.com/

That is a good idea to get checked for virus', fungus, etc. Have you ever taken oil of oregano or olive leaf extract or even garlic for virus'? This week I cooked cloves and cloves of garlic in olive oil and ate them and my GI tract and my virus' in my system felt right. We've been passing virus' here since May......there are eight of us and its a very short time when there is no one sick. The dr. wants to work up my 11 yo for swollen lymph nodes that seem to be chronic. Its so common for me that I almost laugh that he wants to do that. But I'll let him check her in a few weeks the way he wants.

Are you near Baltimore? Have you heard of Dr. Teitelbaum? I think his first name is Jacob. Here he is:

I'm on here tonight wondering if the 10mg of DHEA I took was too much to start. I just woke from a very vivid, frightening dream.

Please keep in touch and you are in my prayers, Carrie. Love, Joni in DE
